Dreamin' of Dallas - Great Room Design

We wrapped up our Dreamin' of Dallas project earlier this year and it was definitely one of our favorite projects to date! The home was intended to host and we wanted to create unique spaces that could provide a variety of seating to ensure all guests felt welcome! In the great room, we were challenged to create both a living and dining area that could fit many.

We started with a big blank space - this home had really great bones so we mainly worked through furniture selection, with the exception of wall treatments and lighting in some of the spaces. The great room in particular already had dramatic lighting in place, so we left that as it was!

Since this remote project was so large, we ended up flying out to see the space in person and take measurements ourselves to ensure everything fit perfectly. When working on remote projects most of the time, we are able to send over a measuring guide to give you clear instructions on the measurements we need to build out your model.

Getting Started - Concept Boards

The project started with concept boards - this is how was always start a new project - concept boards get us on the same page design-wise before we spend the time you've paid on 3D renderings. We value your trust in us and our company and want to make sure we are being as efficient as possible.

Presentation - 3D Renderings

Once we feel confident in the style you are drawn to for your space, we really get to work! We spend lots of time going through all of your feedback + notes from our design calls to pull together a design we're sure you'll love! Our design presentations include 3D renderings we have created for each space as well as tear sheets of each individual item for you to take a closer look.

For the dining space, we really wanted to think outside of the box and step away from the typical dining table with chairs - enter the idea to create a blend of banquette and chair seating options. We also wanted the living space to feel unique and offer a variety so we pulled two different sofas to anchor the space, tied together with two leather chairs for individual seating. There was an opportunity in front of the fireplace for even more seating if needed so we chose these large ottomans that would be perfect to pull up to the coffee table for a game night.

Implementation - Ordering + Placing!

For one to two rooms of remote design, we will typically send you all of the information to place orders directly, a more DIY approach to implementation. However, if you have a larger-scale project it benefits the outcome drastically to have us order and manage the project for you. We completed this entire Dallas project with only a few trips out - so mostly remote! Our processes ensure we keep details locked in and are able to utilize smaller amounts of time as efficiently as possible.

It's so satisfying to see the start to finish when we wrap up projects. Every project is a labor of love and we are so grateful to be trusted to enter such an intimate part of your life - your home. We love getting to know you, your family, and how you use the space so we can collaborate with you on a design that not only looks beautiful but works the best functionally for your lifestyle.

XO,

Caitlin
